Ad of the Day: AMC’s Mad Men
Today’s campaign for AMC’s Mad Men seems to a hit a nerve with some viewers. Personally, I think these viewers are just looking for something to bitch about, but apparently this image of Jack Draper falling through white space is offensive because it reminds them of victims of the 9-11 attacks jumping to their doom.
Why does absolutely everything in this country have to lead back to 9-11? What in the fuck does a falling illustration of a guy in a suit have to do the plane crashes? Absolutely nothing.
Here’s the graphic enlarged:
AMC released this statement in regards to the controversy:
“Mad Men‘s current advertising campaign features the iconic and signature image of a falling man from the series’ Emmy Award-winning opening credits. The image of Don Draper tumbling through space has been used since the show began in 2007 to represent a man whose life is in turmoil. The image used in the campaign is intended to serve as a metaphor for what is happening in Don Draper’s fictional life and in no way references actual events,” said AMC.
Geeze people, get over yourselves and stop thinking EVERYTHING is an allusion to 9/11.
