Ad of the Day: Summer’s Eve (controversial ads)
These ads got pulled by Summer’s Eve after outcry from the public that they’re racially insensitive. I don’t really see what the big deal is. They’re stereotypical, sure. A bit cliché, yes, but so much so that it created enough backlash to get them pulled? Were people really that offended? I don’t really get it, but I’m a white girl from Idaho. So what do I know. I actually like them. There’s some half way decent writing in there, if you can get past the talking V.
“Two of the spots in particular, featuring black and Hispanic characters, were criticized by some viewers, who complained that the voice work was racially stereotypical.” Says an Adweek correspondent, referring to the remarks of online critics. Watch and you decide. Tell me, What do you think of these videos?
